This particular rakau within te ao Maori was used during haputanga (pregnancy) and after haputanga, a safe rongoa for pepi. The purakau (story) of Ti-Kauka is one of nurture and is suitable for all ages and genders. Ti-Kauka helps to  bring ease, relieve stress, soothe and calm all of us. It is also anti-septic and anti-inflammatory, food for the skin and soul.

One of our dearest experiences

Ti-Kauka was a rongoa rakau our Dad really enjoyed as a warm tea and ice tea. Our Dad was diagnosed with cancer and Ti-Kauka brought him comfort. To be able to see him relax a little during such a challenging time was always a blessing for us. Ti-Kauka helps to ease the digestive system, is antiseptic and has a comforting warmth.

It is difficult to describe what plants do and have done for us. It is a connection like no other, each speaking at cellular levels in various ways, in ways we often forget that the language of nature's nurture takes place.

We are all more than deserving of care and nurture. Let us not forget that Kaitiakitanga is reciprocal and the more we care about Ranginui and Papatuanuku the more we care about ourselves as part of humanity and our peaceful coexisting continuance.

Thank you Dad for the memories and the infinite learning. Arohanunui.
